PARAGUAY: Abdo Benítez signs land seizures bill amid protests

On 30 September, amid violent clashes between police and protesters in Asunción, Paraguay’s President Mario Abdo Benítez signed into law a controversial new bill which raises the penalties for land seizures to up to ten years’ imprisonment.
