COSTA RICA: Growing influence of Colombian & Mexican cartels

According to the country's chief prosecutor, Francisco Dall'anese, Costa Rica has not yet been overrun by the drugs trade but is at risk of this happening. His warning is part of the effort the government is making to persuade congress to promptly approve the bill against organised crime. He claims that the Colombian Norte del Valle cartel, the drug-trafficking arm of the Farc guerrillas, and Mexico's Sinaloa cartel are all present in Costa Rica, as well as certain branches of Chinese triads.
