TRINIDAD & TOBAGO | Abu Bakr committed to trial. In late January Yasin Abu Bakr, leader of the Jamaat al Muslimeen, was charged with inciting larceny among his membership and using seditious language with intent to use terror, which has been deemed a threat to the country's peace and national security. A motion by his lawyers to dismiss the charges was rejected. The charges, based mainly on a questionable interpretation of one of his sermons [SSR-05-11], are a clear indication that the authorities have failed to find any evidence connecting him to a string of unclaimed bombings last year.
