Banking on a better second half
In early August Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) president, Agustín Carstens, lowered Banxico’s annual growth forecast for the year to 2%-3%, down from 3%-4% previously. The revision followed the release of weak second quarter GDP figures by the finance ministry (SHCP). However, the government and private economists are expecting a stronger second half.
