DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: New repatriations feed vicious circle

With another batch of deportations in the first weekend of July, the Dominican government has raised the number of Haitians arrested and repatriated since mid June to more than 2,000, in what a church-based NGO has described as 'massive and brutal' expulsions. The government has signalled that it will be targeting the tourism industry, where it says that undocumented Haitians have been taking jobs reserved by law for Dominicans.
