BRAZIL: Unemployment in Brazil in November was 9.6% compared with 10.6% a year earlier, the government announced.

COLOMBIA: Colombia's government will sell 22.5bn yen (US$191.6m) of seven-year, yen-denominated bonds, the finance ministry said.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: The national development council approved the 2006 budget on 21 December. It was set at RD$238.55bn (US$7.25bn) and will be submitted to congress next week.

MEXICO: The government, private sector and union representatives agreed to raise the minimum wage by 4% as of 1 January. The Minimum Wage Commission said that the minimum wage will rise to 48.67 pesos (US$4.5) a day in zone A, which includes Mexico City. Wages in zones B and C are slightly lower than that.
