PERU: Political worries mount

The rise of Ollanta Humala, a former coup leader, in the opinion polls sent the sol plummeting in mid-December. In little less than a week the Nuevo sol lost 5% of if its value against the dollar after an opinion poll put Humala a strong second in the opinion polls for next April's presidential elections and the only leading candidate to be gaining support.
