CARIBBEAN: AIDS still leading cause of death
According to United Nation figures released for World Aids Day, AIDS is the leading cause of death among 15 to 44-year-olds in the Caribbean. With average adult prevalence rates of 2%, the region has the highest infection rates in the world after sub-Saharan Africa. Three countries in Central America - Guatemala Honduras and Belize - are also badly affected, with adult prevalence rates of 1% or more.
